Southfield Farm opened their current facility at 40 Carver St. in Halifax, Ma in September 2010. Both Amy and Joanne have worked at several other facilities after the sale of their previous facility in 2001. We are always working on improving our facility to better meet the needs of both horse and rider.
Amy Heath
Amy has grown up with horses and is a third-generation horse woman. She showed very successfully in Saddleseat Equitation, but has ridden and competed in all seats. Amy does most of the riding and competing, but also enjoys bringing new prospects up through the ranks. She currently coaches riders and competes herself in several circuits all over the country in several disciplines (see winners page for some recent accomplishments). Amy is also the IHSA Western Team coach at Bridgewater State University. Amy strives for a positive connection with every horse that she works with and helps build a harmonious bond of trust and love with every horse that she trains. Everyone that has seen her with the horses can't believe how gifted she is! She is always more than happy to help someone or answer any questions, so if you see her at a show don't be afraid to say 'hello'!
Joanne Heath-Smith
Joanne is a second-generation horse woman, and has been teaching and training for the past 29 years. She has trained saddleseat, huntseat, western, and driving continuously throughout her career. She specializes in problem solving and reschooling horses with issues. Joanne enjoys teaching the beginner lessons to give them a strong foundation for years to come. She often stays home during the shows to oversee daily operations at the farm. This creates a "stable" environment and piece of mind for all. Although not always visible at every show, if you do see her, make sure to say hello, or stop by the farm!
